SYMBOLIC SELF PORTRAIT
If I could describe myself in three words: Creative, Indecisive, & Insightful
My symbolic self portrait was my initial assignment in my Art class this past semester. And since it was the first assignment of the class it was an identity based piece, in order to establish our skill level and also allow our teacher to get to know us better. In my piece I tried best to showcase my interests and ideology. At first glance, someone who knew about me would see the literal meaning of each symbol in the piece, but someone who knew me well would also see how they represent some of my beliefs. For example, I love camping, especially roadtrips. So the car and the endless road represents my love for them, but it also symbolizes how I at times my goals aren't always clear but I always keep pushing myself further. Or how I love school and reading books, and yet they are closed books to symbolize that I am more reserved, like a closed book. The polaroids represent my passion for classic photography but also my sentimental personality. My love for the the mountains and forest are emphasized in the piece by their color and boldness, but they also represent that they are a big part of my personality and that my nickname is "Tree". Many of my images seem transparent in my piece, but many of them also integrate a less apparent part of my identity in them.
