FOODTOPIA
FoodTopia is an integrated project between Humanities, Chemistry, and Art class that took course over six weeks. The main purpose of the FoodTopia project was to study the macronutrient molecules in chemistry, food anthropology in humanities, and propaganda in art. For our final exhibition, we produced a promotional video informing others about a specific topic we are researching in chemistry. My partner and I are learned about how the metabolism works in conjunction with exercise to support a healthy lifestyle. We also created garden tile stepping-stones, using symbols and statistics to inform our community about our topics and bring a greater awareness about the role food has in our daily lives. Each pair also worked with a group of second graders as our target audience. We interviewed them about what they knew about food and its importance, and then specially designed the video and garden tiles to suit their curiosities and comprehension level. I was specifically responsible for designing and building the garden tile for my group, while my partner worked on creating our promotional video.
