INTERVIEW QUESTIONS AND RESPONSES
Before designing the garden tile stepping-stones, we had to interview our audience so we could suit their needs. Our audience was decided to be 2nd graders, the students from the High Tech North County Village, parents, and visitors. One step in the design process is empathizing; which means outreaching to your client or audience to see what they need to solve their problem. Which is very different than making what they want, because sometimes what the audience wants is not the solution they need to solve a problem. During the interview process we trying to find out how much the 2nd graders knew about the importance and role of food in our lives, in attempt to figure out how we can inform them more about food related topics. I also discovered that the children did not know how many calories they needed to consume or how long they needed to be active per day. Some even said that five minutes was too much exercise. Soon the empathizing phase turned into the ideation phase, when I started thinking about the elements I wanted to include in my design. My first design, I wanted to inform children that their daily recommended amount of activity is 30 minutes. I chose to first have someone running, because when I asked...
